En medio de la preparación del primer review del Studio del segundo semestre surgió la primera actividad del grupo de GSBees. Se trataba básicamente de una visita rápida al lugar al que habían trasladado los panales de abejas, después de que tuvieran que hacer algunas refacciones en el techo de Gund Hall. Era el último piso de un edificio que estaba de camino a Child Hall, en el que se encuentra el departamento de geología de la universidad. Lamentablemente todas las abejas murieron en invierno. La forma en que murieron es tan penosa que solo quiero suprimirla de mi pensamiento. Por esta vez, solamente limpiamos los marcos de madera del panal y nos llevamos un poco de miel y un mucho de cera en unos pequeños potes de plástico.

Aún creo que prefiero mi anterior desk que el nuevo. Tenía más espacio y más movimiento alrededor, me sentía más parte del landscape del Gund Hall. Pero podemos decir que ahora tengo una corner office con ventana hacia Memorial Hall.

Hasta prácticamente le han puesto el título que tenía pensado. Realmente una jugada maestra de mi compañero Kyle de sacar esta lectura del sombrero cuando le pregunté sobre urban economics. Creo que eventualmente tendré que llevar el curso de housing de Chris Herbert.

Eine Nachricht ist um etwa 9 Uhr angekommen. Ich war erstmals in Divinity School für ein Seminar (das sehr verschieden von GSD Veranstaltungen war). Aber als es angekommen ist, war ich schon in meinem Schreibtisch in Gund. Sie hat mich gefragt, ob ich schon gegessen hat. Oder vielleicht nicht. Ich kann nicht mich sehr gut erinnern. Aber ich denke, sie hat den Stein ins Rollen gebracht. Was ich doch mich erinnern kann ist, dass sie eine grosse Froyo und Dumplings zu kochen angeboten hat. Ich hatte schon morgens sie im Chauhaus gesehen. Ich hatte schon gemerkt, dass sie schwarzer als immer war. Als sie zu meinen Schreibtisch gekommen ist, habe ich gesehen, dass sie besondere Kleidung trägt. Es war nicht irgendwelcher Tag. Wir haben über die Schule, die Mathematik, die Museen, die Musik, den Tanz, die Universität, die Insel und Peru gesprochen. Es gabt eigene kawai Sache, ein bisschen Tischtennis und ein bisschen Olympics. Es gabt auch ein Moment am Ende an der Tür des Richards.

Por alguna razón pensé que el evento era a las 12, así que me apuré en terminar la lectura. Era una de un libro que estaba en reserva en la biblioteca. Era sobre los problemas de estar en una situación de alquiler en comparación con las seguridades que da el ser un propietario que habían encargado en la clase de Housing de Hoffman. Como el libro no se podía sacar de la biblioteca me senté simplemente en una de las mesas del primer piso y saludé a los presentes. Aunque leí todo tan apuradamente, fui el último en pararme de la mesa. Resultó siendo todo el episodio una confirmación de que el encuentro en la casa de Eduardo fue un firme y real compromiso de mostrar educación en lugares públicos. Todo eso me contentó tanto como la confirmación en el evento en el Rockefeller Center de que aparentemente los únicos países que ratificaron el Convenio 169 de la OIT fueron los países latinoamericanos y que tan internacional no parece ser ese instrumento.

Today while in a not that interesting conference about leadership issues in China, the US and North Korea in the Malkin Penthouse in HKS, I saw these portraits in the back of the speakers. At the beginning I thought they were what HKS considered the best presidents in the history. Of course Washington in the middle, the best of all. Far in the right, Kennedy, a great leader but unfortunately with little time in the office. Next to him, a little bigger Roosevelt, well deserved spot. Far to the left Obama, a very bold but I think fair placement. The order of importance according to the size seemed to be quite accurate. From my seat I couldn’t recognize the older portraits of presidents so I assumed there would be Jefferson and the other Roosevelt. Then I saw Bush in the left and realized it was the presidents that studied at Harvard.

I have accepted the fact that no matter how early I sleep, I am going to wake up early. So I started to work on a sleeping period of around 2:30 to 8:30. The thing is that I wake up and have to rush with getting ready and going to classes and breakfast is only something eatable that I find in my way, whether in my room or in my desk. I don’t even have time to stop to think whether it is a pig or a koala.
