El mejor guitarrista de todos los tiempos

Hace poco me dió la curiosidad por saber quién es el mejor guitarrista de todos los tiempos. Sucedió a raíz de un excelente video musical de Paco de Lucía que un amigo envió a una lista de interés a la que estoy afiliado. Paco de Lucía ciertamente toca demasiado bien, pero revisando en internet recordé otros nombres como Jimy Hendrix, Santana o Slash. Por supuesto que los nombres de buenos guitarristas abundan en todos los géneros musicales y separar la paja del trigo es muy difícil sin embargo por las referencias que pude recoger quería proponer en primer lugar a Jason Becker.

¿Y quién es Jason Becker? Pues bien, aunque no muy conocido actualmente, en su momento fue un extraordinario guitarrista dueño de uno de los mayores talentos naturales en la historia de la música. Nació en EEUU en 1969 y aprendió solo, practicamente de oído, desarrollando luego una meteórica carrera lamentablemente interrumpida cuando a los 20 años le diagnostican Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica (ALS – el mal de Lou Gehrig), una enfermedad que atrofia todos los músculos del cuerpo. Sin embargo siguió tocando hasta donde pudo con la guitarra, luego con las dos manos en un teclado, luego con una sola mano y finalmente cuando ya no podía mover nada más empezó a componer con los ojos gracias a un moderno sistema informático. A pesar que los doctores le diagnosticaron solo 3 años más de vida, desde entonces ya han pasado más de 20, postrado en un silla de ruedas, pero componiendo muy buena música e inclusive editando discos.
