UNIT 9- Our festivals and traditions!

As you well know, we have a vast history which includes many constructions, temples, fables, traditions and celebrations passed from generations to generations. All along our territory, we have tribes as Shipibo-conibo, Machiguenga, Aymara, Aguaruna, Asháninka, among others. From them, we still have some celebrations and traditions which still take place.

I invite you to watch this video about Inti Raymi celebration in Cuzco, which takes place in June and then answer these questions:

·         What other Peruvian celebration is popular worldwide? Explain when and what’s it about.

·         What are the advantages of celebrating these festivities? Explain cultural, economical and social benefits for our country and for our people.

Post your answers and get extra points in your homework!

Another famous Peruvian celebration is the Feast of the Lord of Miracles in October. It has a big religious parade in Lima, where people carry a painting of Jesus. Many people join and celebrate this event all over the world.

These celebrations keep our culture and traditions alive. They bring tourists, which helps make money and jobs. They also make us feel proud and bring us together as a community.

The Festival de la Marinera, held annually in January in Trujillo, is a well-known Peruvian celebration that features the traditional Marinera dance and attracts global visitors. Celebrating these festivals preserves our cultural heritage, boosts local economies through tourism, and strengthens community bonds by bringing people together.
