Kant y el campo de batalla metafísico



Kant, para salvar a la metafísica tuvo que enfrentarse al problema de su demarcación, así como los filósofos que lo precedieron tuvieron que enfrentar el primer problema con que se inauguró la modernidad: ¿A qué puedo llamar ciencia y a qué no?
La respuesta inaugural dio como resultado el considerar a la razón como la “piedra de toque” definitiva que permitía asentar y delimitar el suelo sobre el que se desarrollarían las ciencias . Con esta razón como certeza, la modernidad ha querido trazar el plano y a su vez construir sobre él, el edificio del saber. Kant ve en su época que las ciencias “bien fundamentadas” como la matemática o la física siguen manteniendo “el viejo prestigio del rigor”

Observa Kant que el éxito de estas ciencias se debe a que ellas determinan sus objetos de conocimiento con independencia de toda experiencia, es decir “a priori” (la matemática en forma enteramente pura y la física parcialmente). Esto sucedió, fundamentalmente en la física, cuando “los investigadores de la naturaleza comprendieron subitamente algo”. Este algo fue la constatación de que la razón debía anticiparse a lo que pueda “enseñarle” la naturaleza, la razón no debía aprender de la naturaleza como discípulo sino como juez ya que “la razón reconoce sólo lo que ella misma produce según su bosquejo”. Así se logró el método matemático-experimental y fue así como las ciencias dejaron de andar a tientas.
¿Por qué no pasa lo mismo con la metafísica? La naturaleza humana no puede (nunca ha podido) ser indiferente ante los objetos de conocimiento de ésta: : Dios, el mundo, el alma (y la idea de la libertad). Estos objetos alejados de cualquier contrastación empírica desafía a la facultad de conocer de la razón con independencia de toda experiencia.


¿Por qué la otrora reina de todas las ciencias se ha convertido en un campo de batalla? Esta reina estaba primero bajo la posesión de los “dogmáticos” pero entre ellos mismos había disputa puesto que la razón sin ataduras los llevaba a conclusiones contradictorias.
Kant, en los prolégomenos cuenta que Hume “lo despertó del sueño dogmático” y ve en ese empirismo la idea de que los límites de las pretensiones de la razón están en la experiencia. Tambien Locke parecía que con su “fisiología del entendimiento humano” iba a acabar con la batalla. Pero el que a la reina se le atribuya su origen “en la plebeya experiencia común” no le quito alas a sus viejas pretensiones. La metafísica se había convertido en un oscuro campo de batalla en el que “ninguno de los contendientes ha logrado jamás conquistar el más pequeño terreno ni fundar sobre su victoria una posesión duradera”. Lo que se le recrimina a los empiristas es que ante este fracaso, ellos se vuelvan despreciativos e indiferentes frente a ella , que como en la fabula de esopo “la zorra y las uvas” no podía ser esta más que una falsa indiferencia.
Pero, ¿cuál es el camino por tomar? Esta claro que no basta que nos remitamos a nuestra experiencia porque ésta, lo sabemos desde Descartes, es engañosa, no confiable, aunque necesaria e igualmente la razón me puede crear ilusiones haciéndome imaginar objetos que no participan de la experiencia:
“La experiencia sin concepto es ciega, el concepto sin experiencia es vacío”
Los fundamentos en los que se han basado los logros de las ciencias de la naturaleza es algo que Kant quisiera “aplicar” en analogía a el campo de batalla en la que se ha convertido la metafísica, ay que esta esta pasando por un periodo de oscuridad similar al que la ciencia se encontraba pre-modernamente. Esto se convertirá entonces en un “llamamiento a la razón para que de nuevo emprenda la más difícil de sus tareas, saber la del autoconocimiento y por otra , para que instituya un tribunal que garantice sus pretensiones legitimas”

Ese tribunal es la crítica de la razón pura.

My problems with Kant:
There is some absolute Truth, yet we are existing in both the world of the absolute (the things in themselves) and we exist also in this world of appearances, where we are pushed and pulled by cause and effect. And then Kant comes back to say ultimately we are to be responsible for our ethical decisions, that morality has its place. I think that here I have to agree with Kant. But then he goes off on this thing that it is reasonable to believe we will receive some "reward" in the form of "happiness" for a life well lived. First, I'm frustrated by what he could mean by "happiness" because there is nothing that fits into the term that I can believe in. I cannot think of anything that he could possibly mean by this that would have any worth outside of space and time. Could it be "peace" or "contentment?" I just don't know about it, or just can't remember what their value could be. Finally, I find that I ultimately stand with my back against a wall, daring myself even to move. Because there are some things that I just know are right, yet also I just know are wrong.

And I wonder, what do you think about it, sir.

Kant accepts what is obviuos in our phenomenical world: the law of cause and effect. About the trascendental world we can t say too much, we r just so little beings with so little undertanding. On the sciences the work is just with the appearences , those are the result of how the world is shaped by our categories . The Science`s ideal is to aproach as much it is able with the things in themselves ...we know it is impossible (we r not God) but we work "as if" it were possible. But Science is not all, there is also the metaphysics, stuff from we can talk even less but only that "happens": freedom, world, God.

The study of the freedom is his ethics, and a interesting thing there is that "something" coming directly from the trascendental (the noumenal world) belongs to us: our reason, the reason in me and you (in this case the pure practical reason). And the freedom is just to follow this reason (not to look for "happiness"). Another interesting thing, this reason "coming from the trascendental" have real effects in the phenomenological world. It acts not breaking the rule of "cause-effect" , it doesnt make "miracles", but we can see the effects, as for example, my will of replying you in English. This action is good in itself :)

Ok.. I agree with your reply. Kant does not suggest that we look for happiness, far from it. But I'm irritated that he would go to such elaborate lengths to design such an appealing system of ethical responsibility, and then seemingly toss in an awkward reliance on a reward system that feels a bit empty.

el artículo es bueno como bosquejo, puesto que faltan explicitar algunos conceptos.
-la libertad no es una idea de la razón (está dentro de la idea de alma)
- La fecundidad de las matemáticas y la física se debe a que ellas resulven las cuestiones concernientes a su campo de estudio, mientras que la metafísica por especular en un campo de tinieblas y tratar cuestiones donde la experiencia no tiene nada que decir (a saber:dios,y alma) no puede resolver dichas cuestiones, puesto que tampoco puede prescindir de la experiencia.

Es por eso que Kant en "como orientarse en el pensamiento" introduce el principio subjetivo de diferenciación.
