Newton y la Alquimia III

Los que no se resignan a considerar a Isaac Newton como alquimista han tratado de diferenciar entre su trabajo químico del alquímico como es el caso de Marie Boas y Rupert Hall. Pero según William Newman - el autor de “Alchemy and optics in the work of Isaac Newton”- , en el espíritu de Newton no existe en realidad una demarcación estricta entre Alquimia y química así como tampoco existía en el Siglo XVII la diferencia entre física y química a la que nosotros estamos habituados .
Newman encuentra que detrás de los descubrimientos más importantes de Newton, como el de la descomposición de la luz blanca en los colores del espectro y a su vez en su sintetización a partir de ellos, son proyecciones de sus investigaciones alquímicas. En sus manuscritos Newman ha encontrado los esfuerzos de Isaac Newton por descomponer la Stibinite (Sulfuro de antinomio) en sus constituyentes elementales para luego intentar sintetizarlo nuevamente.
