Luego de sufrir quemaduras de segundo grado durante su largo nado por el río Amazonas, Martín Strel esta a punto de terminar su proeza de nadar el río Amázonas.
Today is Martin’s 50th day on the Amazon River. After swimming 79 km yesterday, the team anchored along a lush green hillside at the beautiful little town of Obidos, home to the deepest place on the Amazon River at approximately 100 meters.
Today, Martin struggled through a fierce headwind with huge waves breaking across his face most of the afternoon to add another 76 km to his total. Progress is becoming a little slower as the river widens each day, sometimes to more than ten kilometers across. Sailboats greeted Martin as the wind finally died down near dusk, and some of the team had the opportunity to give it a try.
