A delightful way to teach kids about computers

Linda Liukas – TEDxCERN

Computer code is the next universal language, and its syntax will be limited only by the imaginations of the next generation of programmers. Linda Liukas is helping to educate problem-solving kids, encouraging them to see computers not as mechanical, boring and complicated but as colorful, expressive machines meant to be tinkered with. In this talk, she invites us to imagine a world where the Ada Lovelaces of tomorrow grow up to be optimistic and brave about technology and use it to create a new world that is wonderful, whimsical and a tiny bit weird.

It seems to me an excellent idea and opportunity, as the rapporteur indicates the more accessible the program is the more inclusive; That means that the world of computers should be presented to children creatively, where they can build their world full of imagination and creativity.

How important is it for children to know about technology?
It is very important that children know about technology at an early age and so with familiarity they will know, explore and propose programs making life easier and more useful.

It is a nice opportunity to involve kids into this world, a world which is surrounded by internet, celphones and computers, and even, a future world which will master by computers. Inaddition to this, we can develop creativity and critical thinking. It means changing world through tecnology and being able to use it correctly.

In the case of HELLO RUBY, it seems to be ineteresting for training children to create and understand this current and future world, and also, it is very useful for parents to get involved in their children’s education.

How important is it for children to know about technology?
It is really important. This is about future world and the way this will run. So, future citenzens must be able to interact and understand the world through computers and tecnology.

I think that teaching children as computers is valid, but above all, emphasizing what the conferences said as creators, not as users, that is, we must encourage them so that if it is their poposito, create those computer programs, that is to say perspective

I think it is absolutely important and necessary, but everything has to be measured and guided, so that your relationship with that technology is beneficial and contributes to your learning, benefits its development, but not that interferes with a healthy integral development.
